The Sound Enclave LLC is the data controller responsible for the collection and use of information through the Services. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data in compliance with applicable laws.

This policy describes what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights. It applies to all users of our website and browser extension.

2. Data Collected by the MRC Tracker Chrome Extension

What We Collect:

  • Media file URL
  • Webpage URL and title
  • Browser user agent
  • IP address
  • Timestamp of playback
  • Internal tracking token
  • Playback count

We do not collect your name, login credentials, messages, financial data, or browsing history.

Why We Collect This Data:

  • To detect when and where media is played
  • To log usage for media rights tracking
  • To enable future ownership verification or royalty validation

Chrome Permissions:

  • tabs: to access the URL and page title
  • storage: to store playback counts locally
  • scripting: to detect playback activity
  • host_permissions: to detect media across websites

These permissions are used exclusively to detect and register media usage. No unrelated tracking occurs.

3. Data Collected on mrccode.org

Website Account Data:

  • Name and email address
  • IP address
  • User role (e.g., contributor)
  • Submission history and project participation
  • Tracking stats for your media (if applicable)

This data is used for authentication, attribution, and platform functionality.

4. Credit Purchases and Payments

If you purchase credits to register additional MRC codes, payment is processed via PayPal. We do not collect or store your payment credentials. We retain only the transaction reference, date, and associated user ID. PayPal’s privacy policy governs all transactions made through their system.

5. Analytics & Cookies

We may use cookies or analytics to:

  • Maintain login sessions
  • Track basic page visit statistics
  • Improve performance and usability

We do not use cookies for advertising or behavioral profiling. You can control cookie usage through your browser settings. reCAPTCHA and similar tools may also set temporary cookies for fraud prevention.

6. Data Retention
  • Extension logs are stored for tracking and internal analysis.
  • User account and submission data remain until deleted by the user or administratively.

You may request account or asset deletion at any time by contacting us.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties. Data is stored securely and used solely for MRC-related purposes including:

  • Contributor dashboards and insights
